“Listen to understand not to respond.”  - Stephen Covey

Belle pursued her education in Massage Therapy because she has always believed in a more holistic view of health and the importance of complementary therapies. Giving and receiving massages has taught her how powerful and soothing touch can be to our physical, mental, and social needs.

"I love how personalized Massage Therapy sessions can be! I enjoy working one on one with clients and learning more about them and their individual needs. It is incredibly rewarding when I can help my clients work towards their goals!" - Belle

Belle has a special interest in massage for special populations, including those with visual and mobility impairment (working with walkers, canes, and wheelchairs); amputees; clients with colostomy bags; clients with internal medical hardware (knee & hip replacement), those with scoliosis, lordosis, & other common postural deviations; as well as nervous system disorders, such as Multiple Sclerosis.

Belle enjoys combining both Eastern and Western modalities to restore balance throughout the body, and loves full-body massages that leave her clients deeply relaxed from head to toe.  One of her favorite compliments is when a stressed client comes in and ends up snoozing before the session is over.

Fitz & Pippen

Belle graduated from the Ivy Tech Therapeutic Massage program in 2020 and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association.  She is currently in the process of conducting a case study on kyphosis and is part of our VL mentorship program for advanced techniques.

Inspired by her love of learning and helping others, she is interested in growing to expand her knowledge in the future within the following modalities:  Barnes' Myofascial Release, Reflexology, Manual Lymph Drainage, Cupping Therapy & Aromatherapy.

In her spare time, Belle enjoys reading, perusing antique stores, spending time with family, and playing with her four-legged furbabies, Fitz & Pippen.

“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” – Charlie Chaplin

Megan believes that massage is a partnership between therapist and client, and encourages communication, compassion, and common sense in her sessions. Sense of humor at no extra charge.

After living in Chicago for many years Megan moved to the Fort Wayne area to be closer to family. She discovered massage as part of her own complicated medical journey.   Now diagnosed with hyperesthesia, fibromyalgia, and hypermobility-- massage and Myofascial Release (MFR) is a major component of her healthcare plan.  Megan draws on her own experiences to help provide individualized therapeutic massage.

The opportunity to help someone feel more comfortable in their own body is highly rewarding. For this reason, Megan has a special interest in massage for those with chronic pain, sensory issues, body issues and those who are really specific about what they want or need. Megan also enjoys taking care of expecting mothers with prenatal massage.

Megan graduated from the Ivy Tech Therapeutic Massage program in 2019. Inspired by her love of learning and helping others, she also holds Certifications in both John Barnes Myofascial Release and both Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and Fascial Movement Taping Fascial Movement Taping through movement company RockTape.

Before entering the world of bodywork, Megan worked in marketing, libraries, and information management with a BA in English from Valparasio University and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. "It is necessary that one learn to release tension in order to improve the circulation of Ki (life energy) and obtain a balance in basic bodily processes. Balance in our physical body is contingent on a balance between the mind and the body. Suppleness of the body indicates a flexible posture physically and mentally." - Shizuto Masunaga

Amy Jo joined Vital Living in August, 2016. She lived in Austin, Texas for 12 years prior to moving back to Fort Wayne and in Bermuda and Hawaii before that. She joined the Navy at 18 and between Virginia Beach and Atlanta she served for 7 years.

Her interest in Massage Therapy began at The Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado in 2008 where she learned Myofascial Release and Structural Integration. She has since expanded her Myofascial Release (MFR) training with John F. Barnes, the renowned expert of MFR.  Amy Jo graduated from A New Beginning School of Massage in 2012 in Austin, Texas.  It was there that she discovered another love – Shiatsu (Japanese Bodywork) and Thai Massage (Thailand Bodywork) which together incorporate a traditional combination of acupressure, energy meridian work and yoga-like stretching for an invigorating albeit relaxing and balancing experience. (Thai-Shiatsu is done on a mat on the floor with the client wearing loose comfortable clothing.)  Her Myofascial Release (MFR), Thai-Shiatsu Massage and Deep Tissue Therapy work wonders in helping relieve symptoms of neuropathy, PTSD, migraines, hip dysfunction, low back pain, etc… and are ideal for those wanting to relieve pain and reconnect their body and mind.

Amy Jo loves using her treatment skills with tri-athletes, runners, walkers, cyclists, and fitness enthusiasts. She finds her skill set especially beneficial for dancers, yogis and musicians, as well as, people in general who are looking for the medical benefits of Therapeutic Massage.

She was the President of the Austin Bellydance Association for 3 years.  An event that is dear to her heart is the Camparet Bellydance Camp in Texas which she returns to yearly to work with 50 belly dancers.  Amy Jo also enjoys yoga, photography, bonsai, gardening and cooking. We can tell you she’s also an excellent writer.

Cindy’s greatest passion in life is helping other people and massage therapy has been a naturally unfolding part of her life, starting as a child. Cindy graduated from Ivy Tech with her AAS degree in Therapeutic Massage in 2007 and prior to that received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration with a Specialty in Business Management in 1995. Cindy completed an intensive year-long Medical Massage program and has her Advanced Certification in Medical Massage Therapy.

Cindy loves the holistic approach to health that massage therapy and bodywork provide. Utilizing many different massage modalities, the majority of her experience has been in the field of health & fitness. Her practice has included adolescents to geriatrics and has spanned prenatal massage to deep tissue therapy and sports massage on giants… well, not really but the Fort Wayne Mad Ants are pretty tall!

Cindy’s quality of touch melts stress and anxiety. Her quality of touch, her evaluation and assessment skills combined with her “internal radar” and medical massage are some of her greatest strengths. She excels at detailed muscle work and getting to the core of the problem. What we hear most from her clients is, “No one has ever done that before! Oh my gosh, I can’t believe the difference!” Clients love her work and often schedule all of their appointments three to six months out. Cindy still has openings though so don’t hesitate to call.

Cindy is very dedicated to her family (her husband and three daughters) as well as helping others. Cindy says, “God has given me the skills and talents I have so that I may use them to help others – I need to use these gifts well.”

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” – Leo Buscaglia.

It’s a fact that touch is a basic human need and the profound effect that touch can have is evident in Lauren’s work. Caring touch by its nature is relaxing, nurturing and healing. Lauren believes that Therapeutic Massage balances and rejuvenates from the inside out….as well as from the outside in!

Lauren has been working with Vital Living WellSpa since December 2011. She graduated from Ivy Tech with her AAS in Therapeutic Massage in 2012 and that was her third degree. She has a BS in Exercise Physiology and a BS in Psychology from Ball State University. In addition, Lauren is a Certified Yoga Instructor, practicing yoga since 1998 and in the Fort Wayne area since 2010.

Beautiful Yoga Pigeon Pose

Her yoga teaching style focuses on body mechanics, ease of movement and a relaxed sense of awareness – being more in touch with your body. She synthesizes her experience in yoga, exercise physiology and assessment skills in massage therapy to identify participants’ tight and restricted areas and through yoga assists them in correcting those postures. However, many times the soft tissue restrictions are such that bodywork (massage) is needed, after which yoga helps the individual maintain their alignment and flexibility. At Vital Living, Lauren puts the puzzle pieces together and uses Therapeutic Massage and Myofascial Massage to relieve pain and improve function. She does all of that and makes her client feel wonderful at the same time!

Through her love and knowledge of yoga, fitness and wellness, Lauren’s practice of massage endeavors to assist each client in finding that unique balance of body and spirit. She recommends appropriate self-care treatments and stretches along with stress relieving exercises that are mentally and emotionally calming to reduce inflammatory stress hormones that contribute to pain. The result is improved physical as well as relational aspects of life.

“I look forward to making a positive difference in your life today! Namaste.” – Lauren

“My passion for massage began with receiving my mother’s head & neck massages many years ago. The message was clear: there are alternative ways of dealing with pain and symptoms. Nursing has benefited my massage journey; massage has certainly enhanced my nursing practice. Therapeutic Massage covers many forms of massage. My approach is very eclectic and energy work is so ingrained in my massage therapy that the two have become one. That’s what makes the biggest difference in healing.” - Karen Gorrell

Karen’s Green Thumb - Jasmine Plant

Karen has been an RN for over 30 years in intensive care and home health nursing. The past 14 years have been with Community Home Health Care in Nursing Case Management. Karen states, “I really expected nursing to change my massage but what has surprised me is that exactly the opposite has happened. Massage Therapy has affected my nursing much more. I notice so much more about my patients now. My nursing assessments are definitely more well-rounded.”

Karen’s mom was also an RN and in fact took the Integrative Massage class at Vital Living with Karen because they thought it would be a fun thing for them to do together. Her mom was 86 at the time and holds the distinction of being our oldest student! Karen definitely has her mom’s liveliness and sense of humor. Karen graduated from Center for Vital Living; dba Vibrant Life Resources in 2000. Her love of people is apparent in the work she does and that quality comes through in her reassuring, nurturing quality of touch. Everyone and everything around her seems to bloom! Her patients and clients love her and her flowers and garden are gorgeous.
